We recommend you to start the engine from cold on petrol, and then change to gas when its temperature rises. Once warm, the engine can be started directly on gas. The process of changing between petrol and gas is easily mastered from the helms position.
Out in the fairway, on LPG the engine response is practically unaltered - At high revs there is a very small reduction in maximum RPM, as the boat will be slightly heavier because of the extra fuel tank. However, if a helmsman didn't know that the boat ran on gas they would never realise it...
The only real difference you'll notice is the unusual pleasure you get when filling-up with gas. What will you spend your savings on a new kitchen / more fuel / the next boat...?
The ‘TODO’ re-fuelling fitting is the adopted marine standard. It is very different from the Italian car or Dutch bayonet fitting, which makes these impossible to fill at coastal filling sites. This ‘TODO’ fitting is of course not cheap and neither is mounting the thing because of the strains put on to it from the weight of the refuelling hose.
